BioMorwen Steelsheen (2922-?) was the spouse of Thengel. They married in 2943 and had five children, including Théoden and Théodwyn (mother of Éomer and Éowyn). Morwen means "dark lady" in Sindarin.
Morwen was 17 years younger than her husband, so she was probably born in 2922. She was believed to be born in Lossarnach. She was called Steelsheen because of her grace.
GAME BIO: Morwen didn't plan to marry Thengel, but unfortunately an unplanned pregnancy had her walking down the aisle quite swiftly before she'd even hit her second decade. Luckily for her, not only did Thengel turn out to be a doting husband, a few years later she found out he was actually a self-exiled prince who'd just inherited the throne.
Thengel hated returning to Rohan, but Morwen quickly realized that it was a country full of all the positive traits that had attracted her to Thengel in the first place, despite his best attempts to hide them. She settled and quickly became a favourite of the people and nicknamed 'Steelsheen' for her grace despite the fact that her husband was quickly becoming nearly as unpopular as his father Fengel in his attempts to turn Rohan more like his adopted country of Gondor.
Morwen had five children who she loves (and loved, one died) very much. She's just not the best at dealing with anyone below fourteen. But she tries.
Then she hires a nurse.
She often flirts and fantasizes about other men, but would never actually cheat on Thengel who she knows adores her. He's mostly tolerant, but has perfected giving other men the stinkeye.
The 'old' me, before I discovered bleach. Who knew that was the secret to royal success? For me. My 'darling' Thengel is still having his troubles. Why would you take such nice, strapping Rohirric men and try to turn them into Gondorians? If I weren't queen, I'd say I married the wrong Rohirrim.
